Isela Ortiz

Creative Director, Entertainment Producer, Arts Advocate

Isela Ortiz is the founder of Sac Dance Lab and has over 20 years of dance training, choreography and production experience including various commercial work and five seasons as a Sacramento Kings Dancer. She is currently the executive director at Sactown Stage, which produces shows including Sacramento Cabaret, Sactown LIVE, community events and seasonal choreography showcases. In addition to developing Sac Dance Lab’s programs and teaching weekly public dance classes, Isela is the Vice-Chair of the Sacramento Arts, Culture and Creative Economy Commission, appointed by District 6 Council member, Eric Guerra in 2020. She earned a bachelor’s in Journalism and a minor in Dance from Sacramento State. Isela’s longterm mission is to develop the local creative economy so that dancers and performers alike can sustain as full-time working artists in her hometown of Sacramento.
